การใช้ดอกเคาเตอร์ซิงค์ (Countersink) เป็นวิธีเพื่อสร้างทรงกรวยในบริเวณปากของรูเจาะ เพื่อให้หัวของน๊อตหรือสกรูพอดีและไม่โผล่เหนือผิวงาน หรือเพื่อลบคมบริเวณปากรูไม่ให้คมเกินไป ประโยชน์หลักของการใช้ดอกเคาเตอร์ซิงค์คือการสร้างผิวงานที่เรียบและสวยงาม ช่วยให้หัวสกรูหรือน๊อตจมอยู่กับผิวงานได้อย่างลงตัว นอกจากนี้ยังช่วยลดความเสี่ยงของการเสียดสีและสึกหรอในผิวงานที่อาจเกิดจากหัวสกรูที่โผล่ออกมา
